Counselors, Therapists, and Helpers

As therapists, we take care of ourselves so we can show up for others.  You may wonder why the strategies you teach others don't seem to work for you.  Sure you're a mental health provider, but you are also a person.  You have a brain, a body, a heart, and a soul.  You can ache, you can experience joy, and you deserve to have someone to walk with you the way you walk with others. People of faith

Faith-based communities need access to clinically-trained professionals for those times when clergy are not equipped to help. We are prepared to offer therapy from a Christian perspective to those who seek it, but you certainly do not need to be Christian or religiously-affiliated in order to work with us. We welcome all, regardless of spiritual worldview. Read more

How We Help: Two Paths to Healing

Many of our clients tell us they've wanted help for a long time, but they didn't know what therapy would be like. We break it down for you 👇, offering two paths to choose from, based on what works for busy professionals and caregivers like you.

Weekly Online Therapy

Best for those who prefer time between sessions to practice and observe their journey.  Choose weekly sessions if you like to pace yourself, or you’re nagivating chronic stress.

In-Person Extended Session Intensive Therapy

Half or full day intensive work in Baltimore County, Towson.  Choose this if you have breadth in your day-to-day to handle deep work quickly, if your schedule doesn’t allow for weekly sessions, or if you have something specific you want to heal.

Past intensives have centered on: birth trauma (moms & dads), impactful childhood memory, vicarious trauma, violence on mission field, car accident, moral injury, parent-child duo acute stress.

Where Marylanders Find Relief

Eastern Shore therapy

You've been though a lot

Most people we've met who have spent a period of time around the Baltimore Beltway accumulate negative life experiences that stay with them.  From a neuroscience- and trauma-informed perspective, years of anxiety, stress, anger, or depression often indicate some degree of nervous system dysregulation.  When trauma-responsive therapeutic techniques are applied, people often feel better from the inside out.

We work with high-capacity adults across Maryland who are carrying more than anyone can see—and who are ready for relief that goes deeper than coping skills & talk therapy.

Maybe

something just feels "off"

you feel overwhelmed by things that “shouldn’t” be overwhelming

your kids hit every nerve you didn’t know you had

you're exhausted from holding everything together

you've wanted to do this for a long time, but you didn't know what "this" would be like.

your caregiving roles are activating old wounds

Our clients tend to be hard-working adults who are also moms, dads, helpers, and therapists, who are feeling overwhelmed by their unsresolved past.

Not sure if this is you?

Perhaps you're not giving yourself enough credit for how much you've striven and accomplished until now.  Give us a call to find out if our approaches can help you reach your next level. If we agree that you'd benefit more from a different approach, we'll help you connect with the right one.

Sojourn  /ˈsōjərn/  soh-jurn              noun     A temporary stay           verb    to stay for a time in a place; live temporarily

Where do you see yourself in this image?  Are you at the base camp of an insurmountable mountain?  Are you somewhere along its ridge or frozen at a tipping point?  Perhaps you're treading water amidst stormy waves, praying for a chance to feel the warmth of the sun once more.

As we journey through life, we experience constant change.  The landscape around us changes the landscape within us. We choose some paths and some are chosen for us.

Sojourn Well clients seek therapy because they want to change the effects their journey has had on them.  They have stayed longer in one place than they planned or desired to stay.  They'd like to learn how to move on, choosing their next path, and welcoming what lies ahead.

We help them ride their waves, find solid ground, cross, climb or tunnel through the mountain, and create a map to follow when they ultimately leave therapy and continue their journey with their family and friends' support.
